Novelist Ray Palla on his Next Book...

2054: MURDER ON THE MOON - The Book and eBook

"Whew, what a year! I'm building a new perspective. I'll need it myself," Ray starts. This thriller is about life and environmental struggles among a group of people who permanently live on the lunar surface in the year 2054.

"I've spent a lot of time researching and Imagineering tools and conjuring up situations that might be encountered by earthlings when we go mine the surface of the moon. Here's an example… They talk to their shared computer like a friend. And the computer is seemingly omniscient, it's everywhere."

"AIRI" (Artificial Intelligence Response Interface), the moon-global communications system sometimes needs to get private input from people, like a password for secure data. Rather than speaking his password into the open room, Lt. Anderson Cronauer (Crony) just holds up his hands, wiggles his fingers, and says, "AIRI, give me control over here." Then Crony air-types his response. Like air-guitar, he uses an imaginary typewriter in the air or on a table. Tiny tattoos with magnetic ink on his finger-tips give him the advantage.

"I personally want to watch televised Moonball games." Ray has invented basketball in a gravitationally limited world. With only 6% of earth's gravity, on the moon, the ball trajectory like other things is mostly a straight line. Surrealistically the players seem to fly around the court. It's not all fun and games, though.

Limited gravity or something similar seems to work deviously on the human psyche. One's usually stable mindset is often vertically challenged by both unexpected situations and other moon-bound people. —r

H: Infidels of Oil - Mr. Ray Palla
H: INFIDELS OF OIL
Politically, Socially, Emotionally Jolting

After a rudimentary H-bomb erupts half-a-world away in a Middle-Eastern oil field, global war appears imminent.

Sixteen-year-old Honduran refugee Marla is being prostituted by human traffickers. The coyote truck she's captive in crashes on a desolate West Texas road. Jarringly, the truck also harbors five armed terrorists. Taken hostage, Marla wonders if she can realize her girlhood dream of city lights.

After terrorists begin blowing things up, will they be foiled in time? Which nation is behind the attacks? Can the Federal government keep the entire operation under wraps? Will the socially awkward “Pad” find love in the most unexpected of ways? And is the slow-roast brisket ready yet?

Even under cold AC, you will still feel the intense heat from this snapshot-in-time. Amazon Best-Seller "H" and author Ray Palla bring fire and sweat to U.S. oil interests.

Terrorists infiltrate Texas oilfields and attempt to plant Soviet hydrogen bombs to activate a nuclear holocaust. They are almost successful, but for an incongruous group of roughneck oil drillers.

By using natural wit, courage, and ingenuity the Texas oilmen cope to foil the terrorist plans and avert global catastrophe. Weasel, Foot, Marlboro, Pad, Sue, Marla and others are every bit as convincing as they are entertaining.

The author has a particular gift for dialogue and readers will love how he uses this gift to enhance the plot, deepen characterization, and explore the themes. With his characteristic style, Palla fills every page with electrifying suspense as events boil over with unremitting tension.

"H" is a rollicking ride, a story with a huge conflict, and a satisfying denouement. With its unique plot and the unequaled capacity to rivet attention, H: INFIDELS OF OIL offers a rare and exciting boiling pot, undoubtedly among the best of the year for thrill-seekers.

Simple Triple Standard: The Real Official, Almost True Backstory for Modern Commercial Radio - Mr. Ray Palla
SIMPLE TRIPLE STANDARD: The Real Official, Almost True Backstory for Modern Commercial Radio - The Book and eBook

"Setting a New Standard for Austin, Texas Music, and Radio Nostalgia" —Bob Cole, KOKE-FM ★★★★★
"Writer to watch in 2015" —Marsha Wright, BBC ★★★★★

"Simple Triple Standard" is Historical Fiction gnawing the gut of local radio news reporter Bryant L Herman in a close-knit community rife with extrapolated double standards that garner deadly impact. This story is about how every day we are affected by standards, whether we perceive their presence or not.

"The Real Official, Almost True Backstory for Modern Commercial Radio" demonstrates common double standards. How much more complicated can a triple standard be, right? World famous Austin music celebrities, and behind the scenes radio personalities embody Bryant's descriptive of this genuine 1970s Texas-style nostalgic romp which also includes love and passion, and an unexpected lethal twist.

Bryant lives vicariously through the stories in the news and privately wonders if his own life will ever amount to something nearly as noteworthy. "When I was young and impressionable I saw some things that permanently changed me, changed my mind, and altered life even as I live it today."

"Things that are defined by standards are often that impactful. The world would surely be a terrible place without them though—standards I mean; you've got to have them. Too much of a good thing on the other hand is also impacting. Relative to where you stand, the impact can be deadly."

Krill America - Mr. Ray Palla
KRILL AMERICA - The book and eBook

Where do you find redemption for the human spirit? The answer is uniquely distinct for every individual. Sometimes it arrives unexpectedly, in the oddest of places, under the faintest light. Saturated in relentless tension, and fed by self-doubt “Krill America” triumphs in a stunning humanity-baring conclusion.

This novel is an essay on human interaction when people are thrown together and forced to work toward a common goal, although they have little in common and would likely not (of their own volition) ever choose to be connected to each other. It's the story of struggle and the measure of man’s success.

An action, adventure, thriller; KRILL AMERICA is relentless and "rife with tension and suspense." The characters and the plot are so real that the impending death story of the Galveston research vessel is styled by critics as having "I was there" graphic wealth. Described as a cross between “The Old Man and the Sea”, “The Flight of the Phoenix” and “Titanic” and crippled in the Antarctic Weddell Sea, the ship is stricken adrift and sinking with no means of communication and no certainty of rescue.

Chief Engineer, MAX VILLANUEVA faces his torn life and the greatest challenge of a lifetime. Max and a few surviving crewmen must create their own way home or face certain death-by-winter at the bottom of the world.

Notable Reviews:
"Writer to watch." —Marsha Wright, BBC
"Painted in fantastic gritty reality." —Wes Chick, Playwright
"Unrelenting tension and suspense." —Dr. Marian, First Editing

The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea - Ernest Hemingway The OLD MAN is like family. I understand why this one won the Pulitzer. It's a quick read, too.
